Pretty Good AI vs Solv

Pretty Good AI vs Solv (Maya)

Solv is a patient-acquisition and front-office platform for urgent care, now fronted by the Maya voice agent. Pretty Good AI is athenaOne-native and built for multi-specialty practices. Where the two actually differ.

The short answer

Solv is a consumer demand-generation and front-office platform built for urgent care and on-demand care, now fronted by Maya, a 24/7 AI voice agent that Solv reports has handled more than one million patient calls. Pretty Good AI is athenaOne-only, connects to 500+ athenaOne APIs out of the roughly 800 endpoints athenahealth exposes, and answers the phone for multi-specialty practices, with secure two-way texting and web chat in development. The deciding question is whether you are buying patient demand for a walk-in clinic or automation for an athenaOne practice.

When Solv is the better fit: You run urgent care, retail health or on-demand clinics and you want net-new patient volume, not just automation. Solv brings a consumer marketplace, a patient app and an Amazon Health AI booking slot — demand channels we do not have — and Maya is a mature voice product at real production scale.

The one competitor here with a real voice agent

Most of the platforms an athenaOne practice evaluates against us do not answer the phone at all. Solv does. Maya is a genuine 24/7 voice agent that books into the EHR, takes payment on the line and speaks more than 80 languages, and Solv publishes production numbers most vendors would not: more than a million patient calls handled, an average of just over two minutes per call, an average of $86 collected by phone, and a 5x to 8x lift in call-to-booking conversion across three partners.

We are not going to pretend that is not real. It is more published voice volume than we claim. So the comparison has to be about something other than whose voice is better.

The difference is the setting, not the technology

Solv is built for one care setting. Its navigation offers exactly two segments — urgent care and health systems — and the entire product, from the consumer marketplace to the case-study library, is tuned to walk-in, single-service-line, high-concurrency clinics. That is a coherent product with a real moat, and if that is your business we would tell you to look at it seriously.

A multi-specialty athenaOne practice is a different animal. Provider-specific scheduling rules. Visit types driven by orders rather than by walk-ins. Referral workflows with acceptance criteria. A tickler queue. A prior-auth backlog that is payer-specific. None of that appears in an urgent-care call pattern, and none of it is what Maya was built to carry.

Where Solv genuinely beats us

Demand. Solv owns a step nobody else in this comparison owns: it brings patients to you. It runs a consumer marketplace, an app with a large review base, pushes clinics into Google and Apple Maps booking, and in July 2026 published an integration making it the in-person urgent care booking service inside Amazon Health AI.

We have nothing like that. We automate the practice you already have, and we grow your panel through referral capture and reactivation rather than through a consumer channel. For a walk-in clinic, Solv’s demand side may simply be worth more than any efficiency gain.

Where we go that Solv stops

Solv stops at the clinic door. No claims, no denials, no A/R, no back office. Our own product is deliberately built the other way — the whole administrative path, front to back:

  • Patient discovery and acquisition. Self-referral web forms, a provider referral portal, fax and email referral intake, referral status tracking, new-patient registration.
  • Getting them booked and into the room. Inbound voice 24/7, smart routing, scheduling and rescheduling, waitlist backfill, no-show recovery, lapsed-patient reactivation, tickler and order outreach, medication refills, multilingual service.
  • Everything that decides whether you get paid. Eligibility and insurance verification, prior-auth status and preparation, denials and appeals, patient balance collection, payment links and plans.
  • Proving it worked. Outcome calls, KPI dashboards, per-call QA scoring, patient surveys and reviews, a call review console.

That back half is where an athenaOne practice loses the most staff hours, and it is not on Solv’s roadmap because it is not their buyer’s problem.

The marketplace record, plainly

Solv joined the athenahealth Marketplace in February 2018 and has 135 practice connections and six lifetime reviews, the most recent from November 2024. Connections moved from 138 to 135 between 22 May and 4 September 2026, a decline of three. Solv’s own site now leads with Maya, so the voice repositioning is real and recent, but athenahealth is one of eight EHRs on that listing and the athena installed base reads as marketing presence rather than concentration.

We joined in September 2025 and have 40 practice connections, 17 reviews, all five-star. Fewer connections, all of them athenaOne.

What we would tell you to check

Ask Solv what happens when Maya meets an athenaOne appointment type it does not recognize, and ask what percentage of their athenaOne customers are multi-specialty rather than urgent care. Ask us for a call that ends with athenaOne updated and no task left for staff, and ask what our failure path looks like when the AI is not sure. Both answers are more informative than any feature grid.

Why practices pick us over Solv

Four parts, one platform, and each part uses the others. Most of the vendors on this site own one of these four well. The argument for us is that the same integration and the same patient memory carry all four, and that it is athenaOne only.

Patient engagement

We bring patients in and keep them close

We pick up the phone, day and night. Patients reach you by phone, text, chat or video. They book, reschedule, ask for a refill or get an answer. We call and text for you too — confirmations, recalls, and open slots to fill. Our AI remembers what a patient already told your practice, across every channel, so nobody repeats themselves.

Workflow automation

We do the staff work that piles up

A cancellation, a new referral, an overdue follow-up or a staff request starts a job. We do the steps, reach the patient if we need to, and hand the rest to your staff with everything they need. Your team sees the work in the Pretty Good AI Console or right inside athenaOne. Clinical decisions stay with your care team, always.

Referral management

We turn referrals into first visits

Referrals arrive by fax, portal and form. We track each one from intake to first visit, chase the missing information, reach the patient and book the visit. You see where every referral stands, and where the funnel leaks.

Revenue cycle

We keep revenue moving

Money leaks around every visit. We check insurance before the visit, track approvals so visits are not held up, call patients about balances, set up payment plans, and follow up on the claims your team hands us. Built to your billing team’s rules.

We only do athenaOne

One system means we go deep. We connect 500+ of the roughly 800 endpoints athenahealth exposes, and we read and write the real record — no middleware. Most vendors in this category connect ten or twelve. That depth is what lets a workflow finish instead of stopping at a handoff.

We build yours

If you can write down the rule, we can automate it. Your scheduling rules, your intake questions, your handoffs, your billing follow-up. And if another athenaOne marketplace app does a workflow you need, we can build it for you — same APIs, your rules, one vendor.

Live and measured

100,000+
patient calls a month, at more than one customer
About 60%

20
specialties on our athenahealth Marketplace listing

The mix is deliberately wide: FQHCs, family practice and primary care, OB-GYN, behavioral health, orthopedics, pulmonology and sleep, gastroenterology, urology, urgent care and surgery centers among them. Different specialties break the front office in different places, and the rules that fix them are not the same rules.

Customer-reported results. Your numbers will vary by workflow, staffing, seasonality and call mix.

Month to month, no setup fees. We build your first workflow before you pay anything, then the first 30 days live are free from the day it goes live — not the day we start building.

We don’t sell AI. We build yours.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Pretty Good AI and Solv?
Solv is built for urgent care and on-demand clinics and its biggest asset is patient demand — a consumer marketplace, an app, and an Amazon Health AI booking integration — with the Maya voice agent on top. Pretty Good AI is athenaOne-only, connects to 500+ athenaOne APIs, and automates the whole administrative path from patient discovery through booking, eligibility, prior-auth preparation, denials and balance collection for multi-specialty practices.
Does Solv work for athenahealth practices?
Solv appears on the athenahealth Marketplace with 135 practice connections and lists athenahealth as one of eight EHRs. Its most recent marketplace review is from November 2024. Solv is a care-setting product first: the marketplace, the case studies and the workflows are tuned to walk-in urgent care rather than to a multi-specialty athenaOne practice.
Is Maya better than Pretty Good AI at answering the phone?
Maya is a mature voice product and Solv publishes real production numbers: more than one million patient calls handled, 80+ languages, an average collected payment of $86 on the line, and 5x to 8x call-to-booking lift across three partners. That is more published voice volume than we claim. The difference is what the voice sits on. Ours sits on 500+ athenaOne APIs, and secure two-way texting is in development on the same integration, with video targeted for November 2026.
Which one should an urgent care group choose?
If walk-in volume is the business model and you want net-new patients rather than only efficiency, Solv is a legitimate choice and we would say so. If you are an athenaOne practice whose problem is that the phone, the referral queue and the back office all need to be automated against your own athenaOne data, that is our shape.
