Privia practice Emerald Psychiatry launches AI scheduling, referral intake and voice on athenaOne with Pretty Good AI

A nearly 100-provider Ohio behavioral health practice in Privia Medical Group turned on web scheduling and referral intake, with AI phone answering rolling out alongside, all built on its existing athenaOne configuration by a vendor that has passed Privia TPAC.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 19, 2026 — Pretty Good AI today announced that Emerald Psychiatry, a behavioral health practice serving patients across Ohio and a member of Privia Medical Group, has gone live on Pretty Good AI’s athenaOne-native platform. Online scheduling and referral and intake automation went live together, with AI phone answering rolling out alongside them.

Emerald announced the launch alongside a redesigned website and refreshed brand on September 17, describing new scheduling platforms, including a phone-answering solution designed by Pretty Good AI, as part of its continued expansion across the state.

Why the front door is the hard part in behavioral health

Behavioral health has one of the heaviest front doors in medicine. A new patient does not just pick a time: they have to be matched to the right provider and the right service line, sign consents and releases, and complete screening questionnaires before the first visit is clinically useful. Every one of those steps is a place a patient quietly drops out, and every one of them that is not finished in advance lands on the front desk.

It is early, and the signal so far points the right direction. Emerald is seeing a meaningful lift in patients booking themselves online and in intake paperwork finished ahead of the appointment rather than in the waiting room. That is a different experience for the patient too: the forms, consents and questionnaires are done at home, at their own pace, and the visit starts as a visit. We are working with Emerald on a fuller look at the results and will publish specifics once the practice has reviewed them.

Why it took an athenaOne-native build

Emerald is a practice of nearly 100 providers and about 30 clinical support and administrative staff, running out of offices in Dublin, Reynoldsburg and Cincinnati plus telehealth statewide, with service lines that range from medication management and therapy to TMS and Spravato. Those service lines do not share a single booking rule. Provider matching, appointment types, form packets and referral routing all differ, and all of them already live inside athenaOne.

Pretty Good AI holds production access to 730+ athenaOne API endpoints. That depth is what makes it possible to build against a practice’s actual configuration instead of asking the practice to change it. At Emerald that meant patient-facing scheduling that writes real appointments into athenaOne, forms and consents that return to the chart, referral intake that routes without a staff hand-off, and AI phone answering now rolling out for the patients who still prefer to call.

No workflow was replaced with a generic one. Emerald’s rules stayed Emerald’s rules.

Cleared for Privia practices

Pretty Good AI has fully passed Privia’s Third Party Assessment Committee (TPAC) vendor review, including TPAC’s review of AI usage. Emerald is one of several Privia practices Pretty Good AI works with today, on AI phone answering as well as scheduling, intake, referral and other AI workflows.

“Emerald is what a growing practice actually looks like. Nearly 100 providers, multiple service lines, three offices and telehealth across a state, all of it already configured in athenaOne. The wrong move is to hand a practice like that a product and ask them to bend to it. We built to their configuration and shipped scheduling, intake and voice on one timeline. It is early, but the front door is already working differently than it did a month ago.”

Same investment, more of it working

Emerald had already invested in athenaOne. What changed is how much of that investment reaches the patient. Scheduling, consents, screeners and referrals now run on the practice’s existing system of record, with the automation layered on top rather than bolted beside it.
